Just Good Work for the UK Seasonal Workers Visa Programme (SWS) Full Year Report 2024

Overall aim and purpose: To help protect workers from hidden exploitation risks during recruitment and on farm, and make sure they have a positive experience when working in UK agriculture and horticulture so that they wish to return next season. To provide scheme-wide communication to and insight from workers throughout their recruitment and employment, enabling faster decision making on what is or isn’t working, reducing duplication and simplifying the experience for workers and all scheme stakeholders.

Key Insights from Questions to UK Users:
➔ 97% said they feel safe at work and on the farm
➔ 95% noted that they received their wage on time
➔ 93% said they clearly understood the terms in their contract
➔ 87% said they were provided at least 32 hours of work per week
➔ 85% said they were satisfied with the number of hours of paid work they received
➔ 83% said the information they were provided with during recruitment regarding pay, working hours, working conditions and accommodation was accurate
➔ 27% said they were asked to pay for fees or costs not related to their travel or visa during recruitment
➔ 19% felt they were not treated fairly by their manager or supervisor
