I started realising more of my interest for justice issues when my son became a teenager and became involved in activism. Professionally, the wordsmithing has seemed like it was always there.
What gives me hope is the idea that you can help individuals, even if you cannot change the system. As a writer, I always try to have someone specific in mind that I’m speaking to, in order to try to keep the voice engaging, personal and useful.
I am encouraged to see the move towards increased worker organisation, albeit with a lot of opposition. It does feel there is a momentum gathering and people are more aware that they can actually do something to change their work experience for the better. I think that kind of change, at that grass roots level, is really going to make a difference and, hopefully, trickle up.
